The 2016 US National Drone Racing Championships is the official 2016 World Drone Racing Championships qualifier event for the United States.
Winners from the Drone Nationals were selected to represent Team USA for all the categories, including Individual, Freestyle, Wing and more.
Drone Pilots Federation was proud to be a partner for this event to ensure purity, fairness, and legality of the drone sporting event.
This event had historic significance as the first drone racing event in the United States to be televised live by a major news network - ESPN.
The event was held on Governor's Island, in the shadow of iconic New York City. While the event was successful in many respects, we learned and listened to many valuable lessons from the drone pilots and other attendees. Two specific examples were inadequate practice sessions and poor island access due to a single ferry route to the Island. Drone Pilots Federation staff felt the same frustrations and disappointments.
We are committed to moving forward from these lessons and using our influence to improve future events for you, the drone pilots. Become a member if you aren't yet so you can have a more fulfilling and successful position in our world's exciting future with drone technologies.
