RevTechX will be holding  live fly drone demonstrations on May 16th and 17th

The prospect of using drones for vegetation sampling is exciting because of the large amount of information that can be collected with minimal effort.

Dr. Greg Crutsinger will speak about and demonstrate the use of a drone in quantifying the distribution and abundance of plants in a particular area and the importance of this information to plant ecology. The ability to estimate plant distributions over large areas using traditional approaches is generally limited because of the time and expense required. Intensive plant surveys may also result in unacceptable levels of disturbance to sensitive ecosystems due to soil compaction, disruption of soil organic layers, trampling, and vegetation damage.

Who should watch the demonstration? This demonstration should be important to any agency that has a need to know the specifics of vegetation in a particular area, or the changes in these areas over time. Watch the demonstration and have the opportunity to speak with Dr. Crutsinger

Romeo Durscher is DJI’s Director of Public Safety.  He will speak about and demonstrate DJI’s new AeroScope counter drone technology.  Drone incursion into an active public safety arena is an ongoing and serious problem for virtually every public safety entity, but most seriously perhaps for fire fighters.  While DJI’s technology cannot defense every drone incursion, it can address the issue for all DJI drones which account for perhaps 75% of all hobby drones in the air.

Who should watch the demonstration?

All public safety entities should attend this demo as it has great import.

Billy Ferguson, a Solutions Manager with DTSC, has developed the GIS program at the DTSC over the past three years. A graduate of the University of Southern California and UC Davis, Billy focused his studies on the use of technology, data, and information to empower decision-making. Billy supported the recent wildfire control efforts in Northern and Southern California and identified a technological gap in DTSC’s field response.  Billy will work with a drone pilot to demonstrate the real time use of a tablet with task specific software that will enable the user to indentify on the ground toxic substances.

Who should watch the demonstration?

Anyone from any agency that is interested in immediate toxic substance indentification.   Any environmentalist from any agency.

Sweepwings RC is a flying wing manufacturing company located in the Elk Grove  since 2014. Sweepwings is a custom manufacturer.  Unlike typical multirotor drones, the flying wings have one major advantage – air time !!  The average wing can stay airborne for over an hour and is extremely useful in covering large tracts of land for agricultural Geographic Information Systems or on going situational awareness.

Flying wings are designed to carry heavy loads for extra batteries and camera gear.

Who should watch the demonstration?

Any agency that wants to fly drones should attend this demo in order to familiarize themselves with another important tool in the drone tool box.

The Original Drones

Tom Savory has been a licensed falconer for over 40 years. Besides flying and training falcons and hawks, he has been involved in breeding projects for peregrine falcons, helping to restore dwindling populations to the wild. He has also spent many seasons in public schools teaching children about birds of prey.

He expanded his services to vineyards in San Luis Obispo and Orland, California. He then went on and expanded his services to blueberry farms in Oregon.Tom trains his birds with the use of a drone
Who should watch the demonstration?
Anyone from any agency that is interested in preserving our natural habits, and in protecting air fields and crop land.  Any environmentalist from any agency.

Sean Headrick is a master craftsman and the primary engineer of Aerotestra unmanned aircraft. As the company's CEO, he has built a reputation with organizations including Headwall, Quanergy, Univ. of Hawaii, USGS, NOAA and others, who rely on AeroTestra for specialty aircraft systems and ConOps development.

Who should watch the demonstration?
Any agency that may have an application using unmanned technology should use this opportunity to see an automated topographic survey with a UAV and speak with Sean. The demonstration will show the workflow for planning an automated flight, from takeoff to landing, and translating the collected images into an "accurate" 3D  topography

NewAgeAerial founder Dave McCreary will fly and demonstrate the DJI S900 heavy lifter drone, that allows for heavier payloads, professional grade photogrammetry that can be used for research missions, infrastructure inspection and volumetric assessment.

Who should watch the demonstration?
Any agency with the need to explore the vast dimensions and specific applications of drones

Andrew Maximow is Firmatek's  Chief Drone Officer and brings over 20 years of experience in the IT world (Cisco) as well as well as experience as the director of client service for 3DRobotics.

Firmatek offers 3DMapping services with deliverables such as Orthomosaic imagery, Digital Elevation models, Volumetric calculations, and Change Detection. Firmatek's Drone Program addresses the complex needs of clients and delivers the same precise measurements and data analytics that our customers have come to know and trust from our LiDAR scanning services. We can integrate drone and LiDAR data into our Data Analysis and Reporting Platform to give state and governmental entities the information they need.
Who should watch the demonstration?
Any agency with the need to explore mapping with the specific applications of drones

Werner von Stein is the founder and owner of the SF Drone School  and test flight research center located on Treasure Island on San Francisco Bay. Since April 2017 SF Drone School has hosted 19 CFR part 107 class as well as a flying course for upcoming UAV  drone pilots.

Werner helped to create the Hiller Aviation droneplex and museum in San Mateo, Calif. and teaches drone building classes there..

For RevTech Werner will give a short intro class on drone flight, how drones function and some of the basic requirements for the safe use of drones.
Who should watch the demonstration?
Any agency that wishes to learn the basics of drone operations and safety
